Deviated Septum Correction with a Smooth Recovery from Septoplasty

The patient had been experiencing chronic sinusitis for several years, with symptoms worsening over time. Despite using medications, including antibiotics, nasal sprays, and antihistamines, the condition persisted. A CT scan revealed severely blocked sinus passages, leading to frequent infections and breathing difficulties. The main challenges included

  • Severe sinus inflammation and swelling
  • Recurring sinus infections despite medication
  • Obstruction in the nasal passages causing breathing difficulty
  • Impact on daily life due to persistent headaches and facial pain

Given the severity and recurrence of the condition, our ENT specialist recommended Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) to restore normal sinus drainage.

Treatment Approach

Pre-Surgical Preparation:

The patient underwent a detailed nasal endoscopy and imaging tests to assess the extent of sinus blockage. A personalized treatment plan was developed, including:

  • Pre-surgery medications to reduce inflammation
  • Lifestyle modifications to minimize triggers
  • Preoperative counseling to explain the procedure and expected recovery
Surgical Procedure:

The Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) was performed under general anesthesia. This minimally invasive technique involved:

  • Using a small endoscopic camera for precise visualization
  • Removing inflamed sinus tissue and polyps blocking drainage
  • Widening sinus openings to improve airflow and drainage
  • No external cuts, reducing scarring and recovery time
